I wish I’m a man II – the perfect shirt by PYE

PYE – the Hong Kong based men’s shirt brand had a new collection launch and luncheon and I was totally wow-ed by their shirts. Yes, shirts.

In terms of shirts, it might not be a men-only thing, but you would expect them to know better on the ideal design. It is rather a personal thing but we all have similar needs in shirts- breathable, good cutting that makes you look smart, good room for movement while hiding the extra “bits” around your waist,… The list goes on.

I have came across the shirt brand PYE briefly for a few years but I’m officially in love with their shirts this season – after getting to know the brand background and the reasons behind each fine detail of a basic-looking shirt. It is personally a big wow for me , having studied fashion & textiles – truly appreciate all the hard work and researches they have done to come to the perfect shirt. I wouldn’t say this without trying on one. Trust me, it’s amazing.

Let’s break down a shirt into parts- the fabric, fit, collar, cuffs, and buttons. Not a lot of parts but every one of them counts. PYE, as a brand under one of the world’s biggest shirt manufacturer ESQUEL Group, has the privilege to enjoy the extensive product technology and R&D.

Every single thing you see on the product- the fabric, buttons, threads, tags, packaging… etc are all produced from scratch by ESQUEL. Yes, they grow their own cotton in Xinjiang. My favorite Heather fibres (as seen in the bath tub here) after being woven together, creates a beautiful intricate depth for a solid color, with subtle lines of shades. Fabric is lightweight but not see-through. Best thing is that it is very breathable, and wet patches disappear within a minute – minimizing embarrassing situations. I have worn it myself and the raindrops were gone real quick – perfect for a person like me who doesn’t like carrying an umbrella!

And the bathtub! I was covered in those black and white cotton after being happily submerged in the tub!

My favorite color of this Heather fiber woven fabric is grey – slick, modern, and sophisticated.

The brand even paid great attention to the buttons. The use of special synthetic fiber threads and unique attachment technique to keep an optimal distance between the button and the shirt body – to create enough room for the inserting fabric, minimizing the tension and thus, buttons can be held sturdily.
